PII Masker is a tool for masking and unmasking data in spreadsheets. It is available as a website and as a Google Sheets add-on. This policy explains what data is and is not handled. The short version: we do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to your data.
The website
When you use the PII Masker website, your file is opened and processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your spreadsheet, its contents, and your passphrase are never uploaded to any server and never leave your device. We operate no backend, run no analytics, and set no tracking cookies.
The Google Sheets add-on
The add-on runs inside your own Google account. It requests the minimum permissions needed to function:
- See, edit, create, and delete only the current spreadsheet
(
spreadsheets.currentonly) - used to read the cells you select and write the masked or unmasked values back. It cannot access any of your other files. - Display and run third-party web content in dialogs and sidebars
(
script.container.ui) - used to show the add-on's sidebar.
The add-on reads the cells you have selected only when you click Mask or Unmask, transforms them locally within Google's execution environment, and writes the result back to the same spreadsheet. It does not send your spreadsheet content or your passphrase to us or to any third party, and it does not store them. Your passphrase exists only in memory for the duration of the operation.
Limited Use disclosure
PII Masker's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data we collect
None. We do not collect personal information, spreadsheet contents, passphrases, usage analytics, or device identifiers.
Children
The service is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
